STEVE GAINES: Solo CD Samples Available For Download

Thrash metal veteran Steve Gaines (ABATTOIR, BLOODLUST, DREAMS OF DAMNATION, PAGAN WAR MACHINE, BITCH) has uploaded two tracks from his recently released solo CD, "Anger as Art", at this location.

Says Gaines: "Critics, fans, musicians, and journalists have responded favorably to it, and I appreciate it. But I want to share it with as many metalheads as possible, and this is the best way to do it. One critic called it 'a cross between AT THE GATES and VIO-LENCE with huge vocals'. I don't know about that, but go see for yourself."

With regards to why he has chosen to release a solo project, Gaines recently said, "It is an interesting time for me right now. I am involved with all of the bands I am known for, but situations out of my control forced me into the studio last month to record demos of my songs. I did everything, including lead guitar. And they were coming out very strong, so I decided to release them. Because in a band situation run as a democracy, they may not be heard otherwise."

As for future plans, Steve said, "So much depends on situations out of my control. Ultimately, I would like these songs to be part of the bands I am involved with, as each one fits certain band's styles. Plus, I have commitments to honor to each of the bands listed above. I don't necessarily want to be a solo artist, but I actually have some labels who have made inquiries as to what I am doing with this recording, so we'll see."
